Meeting Announcement and Call for Papers
Introduction

Please join us for The 9th International Symposium on Multispectral Colour Science and Application from May 30 to June 1, 2007. This meeting will to be hosted by Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan.

This symposium is intended to review the current state of the art and address major challenges and future directions in multispectral color science and application. Scientists and engineers from all over the world are invited to present the results of their research and to exchange knowledge, technology and ideas based on multispectral theory. Many aspects of multispectral image acquisition, processing and reproduction have been extensively researched and applied in such fields as museum digital archiving and medicine. It is expected to spark brighter ideas for the application of multispectral theory into the designs of LED light source, LCD display, digital camera and scanner etc. which are developed intensely in Taiwan. Future cooperation to realize the multispectral science and technology is unlimited.

The host, Chinese Culture University, has been active in color research. Taiwan has been active in Information Technology and Optoelectronic industry. Having the world's tallest building Taipei101 and famous National Palace Museum located in the city, Taipei will not only be the wonderful place for the Multispectral symposium but also a fun place to explore the multi-culture fusion. After the 3-day conference and 1-day tour, it shall be a colorful symposium.

All submitted papers will be refereed by the technical committee in order to ensure that the conference continues to provide significant and timely information to its participants. Papers should be authoritative and complete in regard to advancing the state of knowledge in the subject matter. The conference language will be English.

Authors may choose either a 20 minute oral presentation or a poster presentation with display boards. Oral and poster presentations are considered of equal importance and merit, and the author's preference for one or the other will be honored whenever possible.

If you wish to submit a paper, please use the web-based form and process described on the website at the following address:

http://mcs07.gcd.pccu.edu.tw

Submission shall be made via e-mail to ycwei@faculty.pccu.edu.tw or mjshyu@faculty.pccu.edu.tw. Reference subject line: International Symposium on Multispectral Color Science and Application. Please include:

  • 300-word abstract
Clearly identify the technical content of the paper and (if necessary) what is new compared to previously presented or published material on the same topic.
  • 50 word biographical sketch of the primary author.
  • File in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format
  • Mailing address, phone, fax, e-mail for the primary author
  • Preferred format – oral or poster or either

The deadline for submission is January 1, 2007.

Upon notice of acceptance by January 15, 2007, authors will be sent detailed instruction kits for submitting the full text of the paper for the conference A copyright transfer form must also be completed prior to publication.

History of the MCS symposium

The MCS symposium was launched in 1999 as The International Symposium on Multispectral Imaging and Colour Reproduction for Digital Archives on the initiative of Professor Yoichi Miyake from Chiba University, Japan, sponsored by the Society of Multispectral Imaging of Japan and supported by the Japanese Information-Technology Promotion Agency with the co-operation of many Japanese scientific societies. Following the success of the first symposium, the Second International Symposium on Multispectral Imaging and High Accurate Colour Reproduction, with several invited speakers, was held in 2000, once again at Chiba University in Japan, sponsored by the Miyake Laboratory.

Since 2001 the multispectral symposium has been organized by an informal consortium of universities and researchers (www.multispectral.org). In 2001 the Third International Conference on Multispectral Colour Science (MCS'01) was hosted by the University of Joensuu in Finland. In 2002 the MCS began to incorporate itself into larger international conferences, to their mutual benefit. In this same year the MCS'02 was back in Japan as part of the International Congress on Imaging Science, ICIS'02, Tokyo, Japan. In 2003 the MCS'03 formed part of the Image Processing, Image Quality, Image Capture, System Conference, PICS 2003 in Rochester, NY, USA. In 2004 the International Symposium on Multispectral Colour Science MCS'04 was integrated into the Second European Conference on Colour in Graphics, Imaging and Vision CGIV'2004 in Aachen, Germany. In 2005 MCS'05 was part of the 10th Congress of the International Colour Association AIC Colour 05 in Granada, Spain. The last MCS symposium was part of the IS&T/SPIE 18th Annual Symposium on Electronic Imaging Science and Technology (EI, 06) in San Jose, USA.
